A native of Great Falls, Dr. Uppasna Chand attended Langley High School in McLean, Virginia. Her undergraduate education was earned at Virginia Tech, from which she graduated in 2002. Dr. Chand then continued on to Virginia Commonwealth University for dental school, graduating in 2009 with her Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
Continuing her education both in-person and online, Dr. Chand has attended courses on occlusion and Invisalign®, in addition to all aspects of general and cosmetic dentistry. She is committed to staying up-to-date on the newest trends in dental technology.
Currently residing in Vienna, Virginia with her husband, Samir, Dr. Chand loves spending time with her family. Her other interests include reading a good book, being outdoors, bike riding, watching movies, and trying new restaurants in the area.

Dr. Arbabi completed her undergraduate studies at Marymount university. She then attended the University of Maryland, School of Dentistry where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2011. To further expand her skills, she completed a one-year residency in advanced education in general dentistry at University of Maryland, School of dentistry where she received training in cosmetic dentistry, Implant dentistry (both surgical and restorative) and endodontics. She is a life-long learner who attends continuing education courses in all facets of general dentistry including Invisalign, rotary endodontics, and dental sleep medicine.
Dr. Arbabi lives in the beautiful Mclean community with her husband and daughter. In her free time, she enjoys Pilates and entertaining friends and family while trying new recipes. She loves traveling, learning new cultures and enjoying new cuisines.

Dr. Shawdi Assar attended the University of Maryland, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Physiology & Neurobiology in 2002. She then graduated from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, where she received a Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 2006. She scored in the top percentile on her Board Examinations. During her more than 10 years of practice, Dr. Assar has worked in Maryland, North Carolina, and Virginia. She is a General Dentist with a strong interest and experience in Cosmetic dentistry and Invisalign. Dr. Assar is very involved in the dental community and remains up-to-date on the latest dental trends and technologies through her participation in various national conferences and professional organizations. Through her understanding of biomaterials and artistic nature, Dr. Assar provides top quality aesthetic results to her patients.
During her free time, Dr. Assar enjoys painting, drawing, and poetry. She lives nearby in the lovely Vienna community with her husband and two children where you can regularly find her cheering them at their sporting events.

Dr. Chou grew up outside Baltimore, Maryland. She majored in Bioengineering at the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree. She then returned to Maryland where she studied at the University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery and earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
Dr. Chou continues to take continuing education courses in various aspects of dentistry including Invisalign and dental sleep medicine. She has an interest in airway dentistry and has experience with oral appliance therapy (OAT) to treat sleep-disordered breathing, which includes obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and snoring.
Following graduation, Dr. Chou practiced general dentistry in Southern Maryland for over 10 years. She is thrilled to have joined the team at McLean Family Dentistry and be much closer to home! With the advanced technology that McLean Family Dentistry has to offer, Dr. Chou is able to diagnose and provide treatment plans for patients by taking a holistic approach to comprehensive care and prevention.
Dr. Chou resides in nearby Vienna, Virginia with her husband and two daughters. When not at the office, you can probably find her attending classes at Pure Barre. She loves food, and is always looking for great restaurant recommendations.
She has worked in the dental field since 2008 in both clinical and administrative aspects. Ellie graduated from George Mason University with her master of science in health administration . In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and her son.
She manages the schedule and handles insurance information for all of our patients. She is the voice on the phone and the face you see at McLean Family Dentistry. Edna has been in customer service for over 10 years and loves getting to know the families we service.
Joy graduated from the Virginia Commonwealth University in 2007. She has been practicing dental hygiene for more than ten years. Joy particularly enjoys building trusting relationships with her patients while feeling a great sense of reward when patients improve on their dental health. She resides locally and loves spending time with her husband and her two children in her free time.
Elizabeth is a DMV native and has been in dentistry since 2010. She graduated from James Madison University in 2010 with a biology degree and NOVA with a dental hygiene degree in 2015. She enjoys establishing relationships with patients, and making them feel comfortable and at ease. She loves to smile and laugh a lot! Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, traveling, hiking, going to farmer’s markets, and trying new restaurants.

Dr. Chand and her staff are wonderful!! I usually am not a big fan of the dentist, but my experience at McLean Family Dentistry was relaxing and very enjoyable. Dr. Chand was very professional and very helpful in making me feel less nervous during the cleaning and procedure that I received. I would recommend her hands down to anyone looking for a great dentist!

McLean Family Dentistry uses the most modern equipment, training and techniques to provide the best dental experience I have had in my life – and I have been to a lot of dentists. Dr. Chand and Elizabeth are so friendly and gentle, the whole family will LOVE their experience – especially the KIDS! I have to drive from Takoma Park, MD to see Dr. Chand but it is worth it.
